The base plate is an engineered mounting point fitted to front of the vehicle so the a-frame has something to connect to similar to a tow bar on the rear of a vehicle for towing a trailer. The A-Frame is inserted into the tow bar of the motor home and is then connected to the base plate at the front of the towed vehicle with all safety cables, brake cables and wiring for rear lights. The tow bar rating and size of the motor home also determines what type of vehicle you can flat tow, so before buying a vehicle please contact us at Northcoach RV Equipment on 0409 581 471 to discuss if we have a base plate suitable for the vehicle you are looking to flat tow and that your motor home size and tow bar rating are okay to tow a specific vehicle In the event that we cannot supply you with an "off the shelf base plate", We do offer custom built base plates ( please contact us to discuss this further)Many Baseplates are designed to use existing holes and hardware to mount the baseplate to the towed vehicle. Even though bolts are there, do not assume they are adequate for baseplate mounting. Always use hardware supplied in the hardware kit Please note that baseplate height measurements are approximate and may vary slightly depending on suspension and the size and type of tyres installed on the towed vehicle
